Hey Guys!
I am Autumn Shelton and fully understand the full frustrations that comes with skin. I have struggled with Eczema (Atopic dermatitis) my whole life which is basically an inflammation of the skin that is very itchy and dry. Being the younger me then, I did not fully understand this condition, like, why I was always so itchy, irritated and uncomfortable in particular places over my body and why my skin was so different from a lot of people in school and throughout my daily life. After many trips to the doctor and being prescribed creams that "sometimes" worked, things weren't getting much better and my primary care referred me over to a dermatologist who could assist and educate us more on this issue. Here, he prescribed me a powerful steroid cream called Mometasone Furoate Ointment 0.1% that cleared my skin right up with zero issues and relief.. Great right? Well humm, after using this cream for years, it seemed as if my body became immunized to it and it does not work as great as it used to. I also discovered in this time how BAD and harmful these creams can be to our skin. These creams contains chemicals that cause side effects such as:
- skin rash
- itching,
- burning
- redness
- dryness
- thinning or softening of your skin
- skin rash or irritation around your mouth
- swollen hair follicles
- spider veins
- numbness or tingling
- changes in color of treated skin
- blisters
- pimples
- crusting of treated skin
- stretch marks
- blurred vision
- seeing halos around lights
- mood changes
When finding this out I'm thinking seriously? I've had a few side effects but nothing to extreme but did not want it to get the those extreme points either so I laid off of it and decided to do research on a more natural way of dealing with my eczema and triggers to stay away from in which I will go more in detail about down below:
Within my experiences and education of this condition I have found out that their are many triggers such as:
- Irritants: These include soaps, detergents, shampoos, disinfectants, juices from fresh fruits, meats, or vegetables.
- Allergens: Dust mites, pets, pollen, mold, and dandruff can lead to eczema.
- Microbes: These include bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, viruses, and certain fungi.
- Hot and cold temperatures: Very hot or cold weather, high and low humidity, and perspiration from exercise can bring out eczema.
- Foods: Dairy products, eggs, nuts and seeds, soy products, and wheat can cause eczema flare-ups.
- Stress: This is not a direct cause of eczema but can make symptoms worse.
- Hormones: Women can experience increased eczema symptoms at times when their hormone levels are changing, for example during pregnancy and at certain points in the menstrual cycle.
I also learned that there is a linkage between Allergies-Asthma- and ECZEMA which was very interesting because I have all 3 ( yes I know I have a lot of issues lol.) But on a positive note this is what drove me to come out with natural all organic products helping not only us with skin conditions but for anyone looking to give their skin the much needed nutrients we lack on a daily basis. Do you know what you are putting on your skin?
