Did you know that our facet water lurks of many harsh chemicals and contaminates? Our water has:
Chemicals:
- Liquified chlorine
- Fluorosilicic acid
- Aluminium sulphate
- Calcium hydroxide
- Sodium silicofluoride
Unfortunately, many of us drink, take showers, and wash hands in this untreated water everyday. Not all bottled water is good for us either. It is important to pay attention to your water reports and get your water tested. I was recently made aware of the harm this untreated water was doing to my skin. Chloride being #1 on the list, strips the skin of its natural oils that hold moisture in, leading to dry and itchy skin. Chlorine kills the bad bacteria that can make us sick along with the good bacteria on which our our skin relies.
In recent studies comparing post / zip codes in the UK and US found that hard water increases the risk of developing eczema – a painful skin complaint affecting one in five people.
The condition causes red, itchy, inflamed, cracked and sore skin and can be exacerbated by a number of factors, including stress, chemical detergents, soaps and perfumes as well as diet and food.
It is most common in babies, affecting at least 10% of infants at some stage. Although it often disappears in childhood, it can carry into adult life.
When I get out the shower my skin immediately dries out after using the untreated water, more then what it was before I got in the shower and it would stay somewhat dry and hard to receive moisture after trying to moisturize several times. I found out about the home water filtration systems (soft water) and got one installed in my home and my flares have went away as well as my skin is not drying out. I think this is really the root of our skin issues along side what we eat and exercise.
