Toxins in your Everyday Deodorant

Did you know that your daily deodorants consist of many harsh and harmful chemicals that are bad for us and our health? If you did not know this I would immediately grab your deodorant and follow along with me as I go through this blog. I guarantee you that you would see one, if not all, toxic ingredient in what you are using.

Market branded deodorants consist of:

1. Parabens such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, benzyl and butyl. Parabens have been linked to breast and prostate cancer.  They are said to disturb the body’s hormonal balance and to mimic hormones.
2. Aluminum compounds consist of  Aluminum chloralhydrate, aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly. Aluminum compounds within deodorants act as a plug within the sweat ducts and temporarily stop the flow of sweat while absorbing into our bodies. This has also been linked to breast and prostate cancers, as well as, the development of Alzheimer’s disease.
3.Silica is a known skin irritant. It may also be contaminated with crystalline quartz which is a carcinogen (capable of causing cancer).

4. Triclosan is another ingredient that can irritate your skin and cause contact dermatitis. Your body contains good as well as bad bacteria, but triclosan kills both. The FDA classifies triclosan as a pesticide, while the IARC has it listed as a possible carcinogen.

It is important that we are aware of the things that we are using on our bodies especially when it is things we are using on a daily bases. Being aware is being smart. Treat your body and try out our all natural organic deodorant and join me on my next blog about the underarm "detox phase".
